There aren't many left now (Dylan next?) from an age when the words meant more than the music.

So what? Sad for fans but irrelevant to this website.

Visionary songs from a unique world class songwriter and performer ...

One of the greats...

If you haven't heard him ...youtube has his stuff...go there and enjoy...

Re: Leonard Cohen
Always seemed to me that he was one of these Singers/poets that it was fashionable to like if you wanted to look sophisticated and arty, even if you thought he was shit.

Well he is a bit shit in my opinion, well was…….

RIP though, apart from the shit music and poetry seemed like an ok sort of bloke and certainly pulled and no doubt shagged some very nice totty over the years.

Re: Leonard Cohen
I think I had heard of him.

Said on the news that he only wanted to get into music originally as it made it easier to meet girls, so yea I'm sure he's racked up plenty of rat in his time, the cunt.

Re: Leonard Cohen
I agree with Sydders to an extent. I never really understood the fuss about him. Nothing he's ever done has struck me as interesting.

Re: Leonard Cohen
Stick to your Robbie Williams albums then chaps

Another genius gone
RIP Leonard

As a tribute can all the banal drips on those competitive karaoke 'talent' contests on tv stop murdering Hallelujah
Thanks

I'm more a Jive Bunny man, Sven.

Re: Leonard Cohen
Its strange, anything that gets the toes tapping and is not political or deep and meaningful to listen too is looked down upon as tacky, yet the moody and miserable stuff like what Cohen on the whole came out with is groundbreaking or visionary.

I will take Jive Bunny and Robbie Williams any day of the week.

C'mon everybody,
Ccc'mon everybody

Re: Leonard Cohen
The only one that, without doubt, justifies the tag of Poet. In fact, he was a poet, who decided to dabble with this music lark.

Just about every versre had one line that could cut you to the soul. His voice may not have been that of an angel, but his songs were beautiful, as demonstrated when the likes of Jeff Buckley covered them.

Bird On A Wire was my favourite.

RIP you old moody bastard of a genius.

How can you explain to the young how good his lyrics were when they hold Justin Bieber so high?

RIP Leonard.

"I won't say anything because no one ever listens to me anyway. I might as well be a Leonard Cohen record" - Neil out of The Young Ones.

RIP (Leonard not Neil).

Re: Leonard Cohen
Considering you'd think it might not contain the best stage presence you'd ever see - you'd be hugely wrong - seeing Leonard Cohen rates as one of the best gigs I've ever been too. Huge loss. RIP Leonard.

Jive bunny is still alive and well. He hosts a tv singing contest and promotes further durge onto the world

Surprisingly brilliant live.

Re shagging loads of birds, he said in an interview once that this rep was completely wrong, he was a bit of a recluse and used to chuckle about this rep as a ladies man.

RIP

Loved Leonard Cohen, RIP. Nothing arty farty about Len. What an amazing voice and he's in his 80's here:

Re: Leonard Cohen
I'm quite into my music, but I must admit that until Hallelujah hit the big time on X Factor I couldn't have named a single song of his.

But lots of other people swore by him and I've got no reason to quibble, so RIP Mr Cohen.
